Descriptif du bien
RENAISSANCE CHATEAU WITHIN ITS RARE 239-HECTARE ESTATE - Built circa 1570 and redecorated in the 18th century - Classified Historic Monument - 239 hectares of contiguous farmland and woodland, partly leased - Including approximately 40 hectares of vacant agricultural land and 80 hectares of woodland - A mill and three leased hamlets - Between Le Mans and Laval - Sarthe, Pays de la Loire.
At the heart of its exceptionally rare 239-hectare estate, within a medieval enceinte surrounded by water-filled moats and facing a magnificent riding avenue lined with centuries-old trees, this imposing Renaissance chateau built around 1570 was entirely redecorated during the 18th century with remarkable wood panelling, Sarthe marble fireplaces, enfilades of reception rooms, and refined 18th-century bedrooms. Beyond the avenue, the bridge crossing the moats, and the entrance pillars adorned with flame finials, the chateau and its L-shaped outbuildings display a powerful Renaissance architectural composition. Both the principal façade and the outbuilding wing to the right are punctuated by square corner pavilions at the ends of the elevations. The principal façade, constructed in finely cut granite ashlar, is arranged symmetrically and presents a richly ornamented Renaissance design embellished with dormer windows crowned by pediments and flame finials. At the centre rises a square staircase pavilion in loggia form displaying sumptuous Renaissance ornament inspired by Antiquity: free-standing columns in the round, cornices, consoles, Ionic capitals, a decorated dormer, and a domed roof topped with a lantern.
