Descriptif du bien
ELEGANT, HUMAN-SIZED MANOR HOUSE BUILT IN THE 16TH CENTURY, with numerous outbuildings, set in a romantic park of over 3 hectares planted with century-old trees, Terrasson Lavilledieu. A peaceful setting, half an hour from the Lascaux caves and 10 minutes from the A20 and A89 motorways. Interesting decorative elements from the 16th to early 20th centuries feature: monumental fireplaces and staircases, superb inlaid parquet floors, and ceiling moldings.
With an irregular cruciform plan, the manor house is built on a split-level over cellars, with the ground floor opening onto the terrace and courtyard, followed by the first floor and the attic.
The main façade, facing the valley to the north, is adorned with a vast terrace supported by three arches, through which two vaulted cellars of 30 and 40 m² are accessed. At each corner, two watchtowers pierced with small gun ports are topped with a pepperpot roof. The central bay features a cartouche with a coat of arms surmounted by the inscription 1909, the date of numerous restorations, topped by a large, highly ornamented dormer window.
The current courtyard entrance to the south opens onto a vestibule paved with two-tone cabochons, lit by stained-glass windows bearing the coats of arms of the local families.
To the north, the main living room features beautiful Restoration-style decorative elements. A rare parquet floor strewn with quatrefoil motifs in three shades of wood complements the four pairs of Corinthian columns at the corners, which support a large entablature with scrollwork and dentil motifs that encircles the room. Glazing beaded woodwork and a breccia fireplace complete the decoration. A small living room in the northwest corner serves as a library with storage for books and a marble fireplace with columns topped by a trumeau. Adjacent to it, a study, separated by a hallway, also features a Restoration-style fireplace with columns.
The dining room is separated from the vestibule by French doors and mirrored effects to allow more light; the floor features the same cabochon-patterned tiles as in the vestibule. A niche houses a pretty fountain, and the doors are inlaid with geometric patterns echoing the parquet flooring in the grand salon.
The west wing houses the practical areas, which were renovated in the 1950s: restrooms, stairwell, kitchen, and scullery at the far end.
The small, opposite wing, to the east, features the manor's original grand staircase, whose old studded door still closes access to the terrace. It is a 16th-century model, with monolithic slabs, ramp upon ramp, lit by polychrome stained-glass windows.
Upstairs, five bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as an office, are arranged over a little over 200 m².
The so-called Bishop's bedroom was heated by a monumental fireplace with a coat of arms. It connects to the adjoining bedroom via a canopy-like walkway on the south facade. Another very large 17th-century carved fireplace with a coat of arms precedes the corridor that serves the bedrooms on the north side, which connects to the smaller staircase in the west wing leading to the kitchen. Each bedroom has a fireplace and 18th-century woodwork, with its own bathroom in the watchtowers.
The attic is unfinished but features a beautiful timber frame in fairly good condition. The Outbuildings
To the west, a caretaker's house with a surface area of approximately 45m² per level is fully furnished, functional, and self-contained, with its garden and orchard.
In the center, a former exhibition building over a garage on the ground floor includes a large room of approximately 60m² on the first floor and an attic floor.
To the east, the upper house consists of living spaces of approximately 70m² and a barn to be restored of approximately 90m² at right angles. On the ground floor, there is a function room and a living room, with bedrooms to be renovated upstairs.
The attic of the barn overlooks the very large swimming pool on the south side, with an old solarium and shower under the auspices of an effigy of Neptune watching over the property with his trident.
Plane trees, cedars, oaks, pines, and other centuries-old trees form a green setting protected by walls. In this bucolic garden, a fountain irrigates a small pond, and a gazebo offers views of the park, the manor house, and the landscape with the Puy d'Yssandon in the distance.
