VERY ELEGANT LOUIS XIV-PERIOD CHATEAU IN A STATE OF EXTREME PERIL.

This Louis XIV-period chateau, distinguished by particularly elegant and harmonious architecture, was restored during the 18th and 19th centuries and retains remarkable period interior features. Now abandoned, the property requires complete restoration, with one wing already in ruins. A sumptuous wrought-iron staircase balustrade of exceptional elegance survives, ornamented with curves, counter-curves, plumes and monograms in the Régence style. Superb 18th- and 19th-century wood panelling, cabochon floors, and vestiges of exceedingly rare painted canvases decorated with exotic animals in the oriental taste of the 18th century remain in place. Interior shutters adorned with small-paned mirrors further enrich the interiors. The ground-floor reception rooms are arranged in enfilade. The château follows a symmetrical plan, with a rectangular central corps de logis of limited depth allowing exceptional light throughout, flanked by two low wings forming ground-level galleries terminating in pavilions, all beneath hipped roofs. The architecture is of remarkable unity: the central block is decorated with rustication and string courses, windows with pronounced voussoirs, and dormers crowned alternately by curved and triangular pediments. Arched windows animate the galleries, while half-engaged dormers emerge from the masonry alongside oeils-de-boeuf. The 19th-century outbuildings are ornamented with pierced balconies. Pavilions are scattered throughout the park, together with a reflecting basin. The estate extends across 13 hectares within a protected listed landscape.
