EXCEPTIONAL 18TH-CENTURY CHATEAU IN THE VENDÔMOIS - Vendômois.
Perched upon a hillside commanding exceptional panoramic views over the Loir valley, this rare and magnificent 68-hectare estate forms the setting for a remarkable chateau dating principally from the 18th century, built upon medieval foundations and flanked at either end by two towers remodelled during the Renaissance. Arranged in an L-shaped plan, the ensemble opens onto a vast terrace overlooking the valley on one side and bordering the cliff face on the other, allowing for the creation of numerous troglodytic spaces. The chateau combines medieval elements — towers, rib-vaulted ceilings, gun loops — with Renaissance features such as the coffered vault of the central staircase, together with 18th-century reception rooms and dining room, as well as 19th-century additions notably affecting the façades and the construction of a chapel. Numerous elements are listed as Historic Monuments, including the chateau, the troglodytic orangery and dovecote. The estate comprises 50 hectares of agricultural land leased beneath the great terrace of the chateau, a farm, and 15 hectares of woodland rising above the property. Among the owners of this historic chateau was a celebrated general of the Empire. Remaining within the same family since the 14th century, it is now offered for sale for the first time in its history. Extensive works have been undertaken over the past twenty years, notably the complete renewal of the slate roofs of the chateau and chapel, the conversion of one outbuilding into a guest house, and numerous improvements allowing the property to benefit from all modern comforts.
